Error

Any time I try to publish a Pixton comic, I get an error, and it says that I have to pay for the service. I'm not paying for anything.

My Favorite App

Chrome for iOS is nearly identical in form and function to that of Chrome for every other platform. The only exception is that, because of Apple's strict guidelines, the browser is based on the Safari browser instead of having it's own base. Within the browser, an infinite number of tabs can be opened, instead of Safari's 8 tab limit. The browser seems to be faster than Safari. Users can opt to log in to Chrome and have their open tabs and bookmarks synced across all devices. Overall, it's exactly the same experience as the desktop app, and that's a very good thing.

Pinterest

A link to my Pinterest page.

Edit: Pinterest is, at its most basic level, a website for sharing content with others. It allows users to post content to various boards which they organize by category. It hosts a repository of ideas and media, primarily pictures, that reflects the user bases's interests. Considering the site has a majority of female users, most of the content is related to make-up, nail art, and other feminine topics. It could help myself and others by being a source of ideas, although I prefer reddit. Currently, it is on track to be a leading social media site, especially among women. Pinterest holds the record for the site that makes it to 25,000,000 unique users the quickest. It would be mildly interesting to see the growth of Pinterest over the next several months. The unique visitors may spike during holidays, and it may decline during other times. I would like to view the usage statistics and demographics of the site, despite not particularly caring for it.

Games I Played

Games Played: 4 Pics, 1 Word A, B, C, D, and E by Andy
Correct Answers: 5
Incorrect Answers: 0

I was able to answer all of the questions easily, with exception of one, which I used Google's search by image function. In the process of making the games, I chose images of objects people wouldn't be familiar with, such as prosciutto bacon and fulminated mercury. The concept of identifying similarities between groups of objects is commonly used and easily applicable, though the game of 4 Pics, 1 Word is likely to be all but forgotten in a matter of weeks. As is the case with most fad games, this game offers little content, is easily played to completion within minutes, and has a heavy reliance on social aspects. The person playing the game is not solving difficult puzzles, having to read through books of fictional lore, or having to rely on reflexes, they are simply looking at pictures and identifying what they depict. Looking at pictures alone does not constitute a game; a combination of various elements, such as processing information and problem-solving constitute a game.

Critical Thinking Game

Score: 51

While a critical thinking game encourages people to use their critical thinking skills, a "blood and guts shoot up bang bang bang" game is often more competitive, pitting friends against friends and random people against random people to see who gets the highest score. However, many "blood and guts shoot up bang bang bang" games feature puzzle-solving elements, such as Half-Life 2 and Bioshock. These games use critical thinking problems in coordination with heart-pounding action and exquisite storytelling to create an amazing experience. Multiplayer games of the gory variety are not purely about the blood, they are about emergent experiences with current friends and new friends alike. Day Z, Call of Duty, Halo, and Minecraft (despite the general absence of violence in the latter) fall into this category. Many other great games are almost purely puzzle-solving games, but still manage to tell incredible stories. Games such as Braid and Journey fall in this category. Just as well, there has been no scientific study linking video game violence to real-life violence. If anything, video game violence has been shown to increase pain tolerance and serve as a medium to express any violent emotions. Violent video games may be a controversial subject, but opponents have a complete and utter lack factual evidence to support their views.

Wordle and Tagxedo

My Wordle- http://www.wordle.net/show/wrdl/6293662/Derek%27s_Wordle
My Tagxedo- http://www.tagxedo.com/artful/ee81452d35254b71

Wordle and Tagxedo both allow for a word collage to be made in their interfaces, however, they are very different. While Wordle allows for easier text input, it's interface is much more basic than that of Tagxedo's, with manual customization. Tagxedo, on the other hand, is several hundred times more advanced than Wordle, with automatic generating of word collages in tens of shapes, a myriad of options and the option to share your collage to Twitter and Facebook. Wordle's basic interface allows for much less error in comparison to Tagxedo's, while allowing for less customization. Tagxedo's advanced interface has a bit of a learning curve, and human errors occur more often with it.
